The expert pilot study “The Current State of Care Provided to Holocaust Survivors and Other Victims of Nazi Persecution in the Czech Republic” was a cooperative effort between ESLI and Living Memory p.b.c., represented by Darina Sedláčková. It was the starting point of an analysis of the state of care received by survivors compared with international standards.

When various estimates put the number of Holocaust survivors at 500, 000, an analysis of this kind is urgently needed. This particular study was one of the Institute’s focal projects throughout 2011-2012. The study maps out the situation in the Czech Republic and summarizes the circumstances in which these groups lived. In doing so, it has created a framework for further study and initiated a discussion on the best ways for development to proceed in this area.
