German-Jewish scientists and writers, who were forced into exile and escaped to Israel, were able to bring over parts of their collections of manuscripts, have left literary remains in Israel. The knowledge of the German language in Israel decreased within the 2nd generation. These literary collections are being often dissolved. Attempts for their preservation have started.
