Immovable Property Review Conference Concluding Statement by the Co-Chairman

Thirty-nine countries, the European Commission and many non-governmental institutions convened in Prague for a conference to review the Guidelines and Best Practices for the Restitution and Compensation of Immovable (Real) Property Confiscated or otherwise wrongfully seized by the Nazis, Fascists and Their Collaborators during the Holocaust (Shoah) Era between 1933-1945 endorsed in Prague in June 9, 2010. Participants in this conference reiterated their support for the Terezin Declaration of June 2009 as well as for these Guidelines and Best Practices.

Current legislative debate on restitutions in the Czech Parliament

European Shoah Legacy Institute (ESLI) follows the legislative debate on restitutions in the  Parliament of the Czech Republic and compares it with development in other countries. This subject will be discussed and reflected in the course of the international conference “Immovable Property Review Conference 2012organized by ESLI in Prague in November this year.

Israel Joins European Shoah Legacy Institute

The government has approved Israel’s membership in ESLI Sunday. The institute was established by the Czech government to restore Jewish property and promote holocaust research and education. The government has decided that the Senior Citizens Ministry, led by Deputy Minister Leah Ness, will represent Israel at the institute.

The Advisory Council of ESLI Launched its Operation

The Advisory Council of the European Shoah Legacy Institute, a unique body comprised at the present time of 61 renowned experts on the legacy of the Holocaust, began its work at the first coordination meeting of the Working Group Chairs, which took place Sept. 13-14th in Prague.
