The Current State of Care Provided to Holocaust Survivors and Other Victims of Nazi Persecution in the Czech Republic

In year 2012 a study called "Holocaust Survivors and Other Victims of Nazi Persecution in the Czech Republic" has been carried out by PhDr. Darina Sedláčková and coll. from the Institute Living Memory and submitted to the European Shoah Legacy Institute. The Study contains not only an overview of the relevant legislation, programs and organizations concerned with survivors in the Czech Republic, but offers also ways in which to contribute to the improvements of the life of survivors and other victims of Nazi-Persecution.

Israel Joins European Shoah Legacy Institute

The government has approved Israel’s membership in ESLI Sunday. The institute was established by the Czech government to restore Jewish property and promote holocaust research and education. The government has decided that the Senior Citizens Ministry, led by Deputy Minister Leah Ness, will represent Israel at the institute.

European Reflection on Totalitarian Regimes

Taking into account the huge number of survivors of the Holocaust - as well as of other tragic events of the 20th century - the European debate must not be reduced to a debate on historical reflection. There are all-too-real consequences of history, including health care and social welfare of the victims. Hence, the reflection of totalitarian regimes is by no means a question only for historians, but also for social workers and health-care providers – and not the least for those who take care of human rights.

The Advisory Council of ESLI Launched its Operation

The Advisory Council of the European Shoah Legacy Institute, a unique body comprised at the present time of 61 renowned experts on the legacy of the Holocaust, began its work at the first coordination meeting of the Working Group Chairs, which took place Sept. 13-14th in Prague.
