This May, there will be an international conference in Belgrade, Serbia to discuss the Holocaust in Serbia and specifically Staro sajmište, the former Nazi concentration camp in Belgrade.
Holocaust Studies Scholarship Programme 2012
The Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme, the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) together with the State of Israel are calling for scholars from across the globe who will take part in a one-week seminar programme on Holocaust History, Education and Lessons, to be held at Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes Remembrance Authority in Jerusalem, Israel, from 2 to 9 December 2012.

The prestigious French National Order of the Legion of Honor will be awarded Monday to Marian Turski, a Polish Holocaust survivor, for his contribution to shaping relations between the Jewish Diaspora, France and Poland.

Progressive voices lament German Court ruling on Holocaust denial
ESLI monitors the debate around the controversial decision of the German Constitutional Court, which indicates that the debate on Holocaust denial in Germany is by no means resolved. The court ruled that passing on offensive materials to a third party did not necessarily mean that they were “made public”. Its important to note, however, that the German reaction to the court ruling is rather critical and suggests that playing with words and flexible interpretations in this context and may have very problematic consequences.
Conference “Holocaust museums and memorial places in post-communist countries – challenges and opportunities”
The conference is focused on Holocaust remembrance in small European countries with special regard to the role of the museums and memorials and takes place in Riga, Latvia, June 2-4, 2012.
Czech version of the new UN study guide on Holocaust released
On the occasion of the International Day of Holocaust Remembrance, the European Shoah Legacy Institute in cooperation with the United Nations Information Centre Prague and with the support of the Embassy of Israel presented the Czech version of the new United Nations study guide titled The Last Flight of Petr Ginz. The study guide is to aid elementary and high school teachers worldwide to educate children about the Holocaust.
